Through the Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre / Rescue Co-ordination Centre, Bermuda Radio provides marine search and rescue service, vessel traffic surveillance, a listening watch on marine distress frequencies, and general marine communication services as required - - - The post holder must possess a minimum of one of the following: • Merchant marine Maritime Radio Communications General Certificate (MRGC) with Radio and Radar modules; • Electro-Technical Officer Training with Radio and Radar modules; • Officer of the Watch (00W) Certification (HND in Nautical Science or equivalent) with a GMDSS General Operators Certificate to a Commonwealth standard; • Coast Guard watch standers with a military background and the demonstrated competencies in the above areas (i.e. Communications, Radar/VTS and SAR planning) may also be considered; A minimum of three (3) years’ post training experience in marine radio operations is required. Candidates who have also completed the IALA V-103 VTS Certification course or a recognised Maritime Search and Rescue Planning course will be strongly considered.
